Title: OEM or standalone ECU?
Post by: jimbo198966 on 13 October 2015, 10:27
Hi guys. I've got a mk1 caddy with a modified (1.9) AGU engine, running the OEM mk4 AGU ECU. I've been told I can't get the ECU remapped as the ECU needs chipping Rather than remapping,  and this can mount up to big bucks as they'd need to remove the chip from the ECU every time, and I'll struggle to find a tuner that will do this as it takes a while....
Sooooo should I get a standalone ECU, was thinking Megasquirt as its the cheapest (?), or stick with OEM ECU and find a reputable tuner....?
Cheers

ask r-tech if they will do it or a few other tuners as the ecu can be mapped in the car

R-Tech won't touch an engine transplanted motor these days...

The AGU can be mapped through the OBD port as long as it's the later ECU type. Any ideas on the part number?

In a word.... No.

Then AGU ecu can be remapped cheaply enough, I don't think you've asked the right places.
