What is tramping? .
Tramping or wheel hop, sometimes happens under hard acceleration. I had it happen several times on my last car. The front of the car vibrates badly as the front tyres hop/spin and the car struggles to move forward.

The Golf has an anti-tramp feature. However, Bridgestone have managed to make tyres that will defeat it!

Did a long journey tonight, with 4 in the car. Shouting over the tyre roar was a PITA. Ordering 4 new PS4 tyres next week.

Alright i understand! . But can a tire modell help with this problem?

I thought you have to change the Dogbone?!!

Can't comment on PS4, but PS4S are very noticeably quieter than Conti 5Ps so if Conti 6 are the same as 5Ps in the noise stakes, then they will be noisier than PS4S.

I had Conti 5 on my Mk7, and think the Conti 6 is quiter.

But as i said, maybe the PS4S is better... I buy them next time if it´s the way..

If the Conti 6's are quieter then they'll likely be on a par noise wise with the PS4S.

Think all the tires in this size are noisy . But you are satisfied with the performace of the PS4S?..

Softer compound tyres will reduce or may eliminate tramping and wheel hop as they have more grip than harder compound tyres.

Daz Auto, hope you have a good tyre fitter you can trust not to damage your new diamond cut alloys when fitting your new tyres.

Yes theses dimond cut alloys are scarry to use. I have bought a extra alloy, if someting happend.

It's impossible to fix nicely

Wide, yes, to degree 19's can be noisy but some are moreso than others. Same with the hardness of the ride.

I've only had the PS4S on since Friday but have done a fair few miles now on varying roads to test them out, and they are so far proving to be superior to the Conti 5Ps on all levels, and that's saying something because I rate 5Ps highly.  The PS4S are  - quieter, less harsh and more comfortable ride even with DCC in Sport, better at absorbing rough/potholed roads, better grip, exemplary braking.  They've yet to be driven in the wet and it will be exciting to see how they fare through winter (do not use winter tyres in my location).  More extensive thoughts on the PS4S (so far) in my thread here.

Tramping, as discussed above is not an issue on the 4WD  R, as is more prevalent on front wheel drive cars and a poor tyre can really exacerbate the issue.

I know a few with Conti 6 on their R's and they are very pleased with them.

My experience suggests that while the contis might perform best, they last only about two thirds of the distance vs Michelins. Personally I can't afford that.

On the other hand, essentially pretty much anything wins over the OEM BS's except on wear, where the damned things are crap forever.

Lifetime of Contis is not great but for me performance wins over longevity, and they are consistent.  Last 3 sets of Contis 5Ps I've got (fronts):  12k miles (mk6gti); 12kmiles (mk6 GTI); 14k miles (7R) - all changed at approx 3mm.  Be interesting to see how the Michelin compare if I have the car long enough to make a comparison.

'Be interesting to see how the Michelin compare if I have the car long enough to make a comparison.'

So we're looking at April/May 19 ? for the first Mk8 R to arrive. Let me guess saffron & black.
Arrived 15/5/17 Mk 7.5 R Lapiz 5dr DSG, Prets, Pan Roof, DCC, Rear View Cam.
Our other car is a Mk7 GTI DSG 5dr Tungsten, Vienna, Rear View Cam, Park assist.

I try to avoid the first of a new model off the line, prefer to get early teething problems sorted.  Colour depends on choice available. Yellow?  Not likely.  What are you basing your guess on?
