As per title, may be a bit early but any word on the May build week 22 changes for the MK7.5 ?

Is it an annual event that they change things in week 22?

Yes, thats the new manufacturing year (MY).
Usually some things get changed (bits deleted, colours changed) and sometimes new things get offered (colours or options or just stuff being different).
Things can get sticky though if your order is in flight when they change and your choices are impacted... and also the car can arrive not how you expect!

And looking at those threads, the announcement comes beginning of April each year.

Way too early, no one has a clue. You might get a better idea by mid April. The changes are usually fairly mute anyway.

Is it just for Golf's? I have a Tiguan on order and it has a build week 10 but has yet to go confirmed. Do they get a set time for changes?

Hmm what does this mean for new Golf GTD's, I've not been assigned a build week yet, do we know what changes will be implemented yet? I'm assuming mine will fall into this category then?

I went on carwow today just to review my quote and it says that VW have made spec changes to my model (GTi PP) and I need to refresh. Could that be the 2018 changes? VW configurator also looks different in it's layout.

Yup, you'll get whatever they have decided to do next.
If they have deleted a paid for option you ordered or bundled it into the base build, you'll get a refund on that option.
If the colour you have chosen is deleted, you'll have to chose another.
Most of what they change though is penny pinching, which you won't get a say about!

Well I've been assigned a build week "Thanks for waiting. Your vehicle has a build week of 20. This is the week starting on May 14th." so that's sorted then

Something to watch out for is that build weeks can and will move by a week or two so it may be worth keeping an eye on.

Diesel Engine 110kW / 150hp TDI with manual transmission will be dropped;
Petrol Engine 1.4 TSI 92kW will not be offered any more;
No more 'normal' GTI 169kW/230hp on offer, only PP
No more Golf R with manual transmission
No frameless interior mirror anymore
Dropping paint 'Ruby Black' (will anyone miss it?) :smiley:
From the summer petrol engines will get particle filter to be made fit for the norm Euro 6c.
But Evo1986 will keep us informed in due time!

2.0 TSI 230ps (non PP GTi) discontinuation and gasoline particulate filter installation is consistent with what i've been reading on the Skoda forum, so I can definitely believe that.

That's quite a bit of change!
Quite a few people likely to be affected by the first two and the latter is going to impact performance I'd expect like when DPF's came in with Euro5 oil burners...

A bit of a bonus if you have a standard GTI on order to be built after BW22 but ordered at current prices :smiley:

Manual Golf R dropped is not a surprise. A buddy of mine was after a used R in manual and had a bit of a search to find one. Plenty of options in DSG but manual was thin on the ground at the time so it seems most new orders are DSG.

Might sound weird but I think it’s a shame if they ditch the frameless rear view mirror. I have had a few people comment on how smart they think it is not having a big plastic surround on the mirror.
It just looks like it’s floating there.

Can't see them dropping the frameless mirror considering the original mk7s came with a framed mirror and the frameless was to save money the first time. Everything's all here say at the minute and what happens on a German forum won't necessarily happen to us in the UK. Best to wait for Lee to confirm everything.

Bit gutted if they drop the standard GTI, would make me feel like you're driving the poverty model that nobody wants anymore :embarrassed:

I'm guessing ditching the non-PP allows for a base price rise... and also eliminates the 6 speed DSG box?
Or maybe its because things like the Hyundai, Megane, Focus etc have more firepower than a standard GTI and they think they are losing sales?
BTW ditching "Ruby Black" (I actually thought it was called Black Rubin... but its thats nasty purple)... whatever horrific colour will they replace it with to get you to spend £££ swapping it now? Nappy brown? Burnt Orange? Beige? Faded yellow? Pink?

There's a lot of talk and dismiss over on another forum (mainly a US site), about people complaining of further cheapening of the MK7. They are talking about (for US models at least), the felt liner removed from the Glovebox and the overhead console switches losing their illumination.
Can anyone who's taken delivery in the last few weeks comment on if they are still there on UK models ?

All of the above are on my two week old GTI. I also really like the felt lining on the pockets in the doors.

My GTI PP has both of them too (delivered end of March).
However, comparing UK & USA models is like comparing pears & oranges.
Our GTI costs £29120 (which is $40,768); their GTI SE costs $31,320 (which is £22,371 [so £6750 less!]
And in the US they get 220hp engine (not 230 as in Europe [245 is not available at all!];
no climatronic; no active info display (only available on "R")
but they get has panoramic sunroof on SE model.
But their S version still has 6.5 Composition Media...
UK models are produced in Wolfsburg (Germany), US models are produced in Puebla (Mexico).

I recently read that from 2019, all Golf models will be produced in Wolfsburg no matter what market they are destined for, which I thought was interesting. I wonder why V.W. have decided on this if it is true?

Yes, I’ve read the same. I believe the decision was influenced by pressure from the employees’ union.

So Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Mini, Aston Martin, Bentley, Rolls Royce, Jaguar, Land Rover, Vauxhall and Lotus don’t produce cars in the UK then?
Cars are produced in the UK; VW’s aren’t.

Has anyone got any updates on build week 22 changes?
I've recently ordered a GTI which is currently showing as 'with the factory' so highly likely to be built after week 22 as such I'm very keen to see what changes there might be!

Nothing has been officially announced yet.
After all of this build up they will probably only change a button on the dash ; )

Wonder what else they can "omit" to cheapen production. I've already heard that US built cars now have no fleece lining in the glove box and no under bonnet insulation anymore, maybe that's coming to Europe as well ?

There's a new pricelist on the VW website dated 26.04.18 which I assume covers MY19 changes, I can't see that anything has changed?
