Hi Jason,

You can get around 186 BHP from superchips but be careful when having it chipped.  I have had my ALFA 156 V6 chipped (I also own a Golf GTI 1.8T 2000) and drivability has suffered

I sugesst you speak to superchips and get a name of someone who has had it done.

As for the brakes, more power=more stopping power required, depending how you drive it.  Long term I'd get drilled and grooved discs, with fast road pads (these should suffice) if you drive the brakes had you might get the fluid boiling (NOT GOOD!!) so bigger diameter brakes could be required (bigger surface area to radiate heat).

Hope this is of use.

Hi Jason

I've had my non dbw 1.8T chipped for about three months now and would say it's worth every penny! The thing you have to bear in mind with the 150bhp 1.8T is that its been down tuned - basically runs less boost. The chip basically turns up that boost, and fueling to increase the output. The turbo will handle this, and if you have the later K03 sport turbo's you will actually see more HP (although torque figures remain the same).

If your looking for companies to try then have a look at the following:

www.apreurope.com - I've had mine chipped by these guys, one of the best in the business.
http://www.auto-amd.co.uk
http://www.upsolute.co.uk
http://www.oettinger.de - the UK agent for these guys is http://www.roadandsport.co.uk

The above are all VAG specialist tuners so you should be in good hands.

Btw, if you've got a Golf MK4 then you may wanna check out the uk-mkivs forum at http://www.uk-mkivs.net ...

Hope this helps

Cheers

I agree with dub300bhp,

They have been working on some mad conversions, I think they have a Mk4 about the 300bhp mark.

Jason, depends upon with model you've got.

If you've got the new 180bhp model, then you can get REVO to add to your ECU, to get between 210 and 220 bhp from it.

I'll do it when i can afford it.
