Did you open the drivers door after unlocking it?
Had a similar problem with my new Polo.
I would unlock it by the remote, and use the passenger door or boot door to load stuff into the car. After about 2 mins the alarm would set and go off cause the doors were open.
Found that it's all fine if I open the drivers door first (then close it).

Give it a try, hope that helps.

if you only pressed the button to open the doors, but actually didn't open them within soo many seconds (don't know exactly) then the doors will automatically lock, anti theft thingy lol  ;D

the anti theft thingy kicks in after 30 seconds i think, if the car is left unlocked for that long and nobody has opened a dorr, then it'll lock itself.
