The AAM/ABS engine is very simple luckily.
It only has a hall sender in the distributor, unlike this is at fault.
Does the rev counter jitter when you crank it?
If not check the rpm in the measuring blocks of the ECU with a diagnostic tool, such as VCDS. If you get revs there it's not the hall sender.

Usual suspects are the coil and the monomotronic (or it's peripherals) or worst case the cam belt has snapped (only an issue on the ABS, not the AAM).
I'd remove coil and visually inspect it for cracks.

If that's all not turning anything up then it's more likely related to the monomotronic unit. Report back if the above yields no results then I can go on about the mono.

Hi buddy thanks for reply
Rev counter moves up slightly.
Engine just turns over
Check cam belt and it still there
What's the monomotronic unit where abouts is this.
Thankyou

Checked the ignition coil yet?

The monomotronic is the single point fuel injection / throttle on top of the engine. It's somewhat prone to faults but usually something else is wrong, i.e. coil.

The Bosch mono unit has three common faults: cracked flange belownthe unit, a broken wire to the injector unit, or the gears for the throttle actuator.

Do check the coil first. May need removing a wiper arm to get to the nuts at the back of the bulkhead when refitting (they just drop down!).
