I thought for a horrible second that you had sold it

Glad to see you've now got no excuse to work on it now

yeah bad choice of words, would never sell.  Because of it's lack of use a friend of mine has tried to buy a share in it.  I couldn't entertain the idea as too much hard work was done on my own to want to share it.

Nope, no excuse.  Just got to get the house to a certain standard before Crimbo and I'll be on it's case...... and the van's!

Love the gothic door to the garage!

Yeah I actually like it, well compared to what I nearly ended up for twice what I paid for it.   Missus still isn't so keen but nobody can see it so I don't care!

I've just signed up to the forum as a new member, because i stumbled across this epic thread

I'm Dan, Richard Lloyd's son in law. I've got a GTi Engineering Mk.2 - see below - but i've been thinking about building a Mk.1 replica to race. I know Richard would've loved that. He'd have been amazed at this thread too. I'm so happy to hear you're keeping the car in good nick!

Your images aren't available any more, so i've not been able to see much of the car. Is there any way you'd be able to re-upload them?

Thanks again for taking on such a brilliant project - means a lot

Dan

Welcome to the forum.

What a fantastic post and thanks for the feedback, really has put a smile on my face.

I was off the forum whilst moving home, (still in the middle of fixing it up) and noticed when I got back on, the place I used to host my pics stopped doing so, angry because there are so many.   In my sig below there is a link to the project page which is just the raw rebuild without other peoples comments which is easier to digest, however this too has suffered picture loss for the first few pages.  I'll get on to fixing them in there ASAP so you can have a proper look, poor thing went to hell and back.

What's in the MK2 then?  Funny you should say about building a replica, my long term aim is to finish up with mine looking something like below one day.

What's your plan?

not sorted that exhaust out yet

You'd be the first to know.

Busy man, Missus (who is now my wife) has a film on that I'm not ar5ed about watching so thought it was time to catch up and get back into the swing of things.

Might try and fix all the broken links in this and my project thread!

Yeah I know. You know I've been up to my neck in it.  Bigger, harder job at work, house has taken all handyman powers, got married and the cars had to sit on the back burner.

MK1 Has to be back on the road by the end of the month but promised the wife I would get the mustang done first.
