Title: Bit O' Paintin' (Page 3)
Post by: VW/D4N on 15 May 2009, 21:53
Yo, purchased some TSW holstens a couple of weeks ago, and hadn't taken any good photos yet.
So gave her a good machine polish and took a few snaps.

Its in desperate need of some coilovers which will be a job for the summer.
And i'm having a Milltek cat-back fitted next week

Thought I'd whack them on here as i haven't posted much.

Got an amazing deal on them (thanks to T_J_G) £350! second hand but perfect no marks at all. with tyres yokohama parada's (4-5mm of tread left).

Didn't get a chance to take some side on shots, as we were moved on by security, but here's a close up of a wheel...

Title: Re: New wheels and a few shots.
Post by: VW/D4N on 15 May 2009, 23:39
Thanks everyone, yeah the plan was to slam and get wheels at the same time, but after getting them for such a good deal, couldn't resist putting them on.
Also plan to space the rear wheels 15-20mm each.

I decided on tidying things up a bit on the rear, so, I removed the rear wiper and motor and put in a glass blank.
Whilst I was at it, I removed the GTI badge.
All clean

Yeah annoying that, not off center, just unsymmetrical as there's meant to be a wiper.

I considered Holstens for a bit, but you can only get away with them on a smooth slammed euro look car IMO... The main thing that put me off was the fact that they look like big wheel trims!  :undecided:

Each to their own, but it will look 100 times better after some coilies

how did you remove the dash trims without breaking them???

you really need to remove the cage to be sure off getting them off clean, but you can get them off by using a small screwdriver to push the clips down, you also need luck and hope too

Just apply the layers of primer/paint very/lacquer thinly. Lots of thin coats is better than a few thick ones as it'll run and bubble.
