The front of the engine (where the belts and stuff is) has cylinder 1 and the back (gearbox end) has cylinder 4.

Push down coild or bolt down? Swapped 4 n 1 about to see if the fault swaps to 1.
Earth bolted to the rocker cover tight?

swapped packs and plugs and still got fault on 4 so think i can rule those out, also had the plug firing on top of the rocker cover so think the loom is ok(not 100% as there is splits in the wire casing but wire inside looks ok).
so itavaltalainen think you might be on to something,, any tips on testing them? can i just swap 2 round and see if the fault moves cylinder...
Thanks for all your comments as any straws to clutch to will help

Take them out and see if they spray nice and clean when you turn the engine over. Obviously disconnect coil packs so you don't blow it up :D

Also perhaps check the (low voltage) line to ignition coil with a cheap oscilloscope.

Just swap 2 injectors over. Id have thoigg that would bring up an injector voltage fault and not thrown misfire...
But ive never had an injector go down on a 20vt.
Ive got a fair few if you want to send the part number over and ill happly chuck one in the post
