My TDI has the infrared rain sensing detectors on it with a 4 position 'sensitivity' control on the wiper stalk. My problem appears to be that it it far too sensitive.
On it's most sensitive setting (1) it goes into virtually continuous wipe mode at the first sign of rain. In the least sensitive mode (4) it has a reasonable wash/wait period - it's almost as though position 4 should be in position 1 and then be even less sensitive as the selection changes from 2 to 4.
I recently had a loan TDI Match and on that car the sensitivity was pretty much perfect with position 1 being a little too sensitive and position 4 being not senstive enough so it was easy to find a suitable setting for all 'rain' conditions.
My question is - can this be adjusted via software ? or does the engineer have to 'go in' with a tweeker ? I suspect it will be difficult to set up manually as to some extent it's a personal taste sort of thing. Kind regards, yt.
