Hi I’ve recently got a mk3 gti 16v - going back to my younger days when I had one! It needs some tlc but at this stage I think the biggest expense will be a paint job. I want to keep it fairly standard although I want to change the wheels and as I go I may end up adding a few extras - well see! Couple of questions if anyone would be able to help:
Good place to get spares? I know eBay etc have various parts but anywhere recommended?
What size wheels look good on the mk3?
Any particular issues to look out for? I had my old one for several years with not a peep out of it but of course they are that bit older now
There is an overheating issue which makes it cough and splutter and not run when it gets hot. Once it’s cooled down it’s good as gold again - any thoughts?
I’m not a mechanic or anything like that but have a couple in the family to call on. I just love cars and can’t wait to get this one looking fab!
