Hello all some of you already know me off other forums as VEEDUBJUNKY or Seth or Steve or that gobby little git from Yorkshire (uncle Chuff) well not had a golf for a wile and not had a mk1 for even longer!, last few years I've been rolling round in verious passats, polos and a rather bright Lupo! But the pull of the mk1 was too strong and I just had to have another found this one on RR and managed to cut a deal with owner swopping my B3 wagon so here are some shots of it just after I got it home on Monday it's a full on grandad spec 1.5 auto it has a few running issues but it's one of the most solid mk1's I've seen in a long wile

I'd leave it with the old paint, it adds to the charm and please keep that old push button radio.
Nice project..

Needs paint as there are some bad scratches on a couple of the doors and the lacquer has completely gone on the roof
-

Right wile I'm waiting for parts to turn up from "ze fazerland" to cure the running problem I figured I might as well address a few interior issues. Firstly I needed to get the blower working a quick check with the test meter told me it was the switch at fault so it was just a case of taking it apart and cleaning the contacts worked a treat! Happy days!

Next I wasn't feeling the standard wheel! I know, I know! But I had this wooden one already

It's wasn't straight forward as I had to get a spline adapter from the scrappers but I got there in the end

Got a step closer to getting the mk1 running properly last night, part I've been waiting for from germany arrived so that's cured the air leak on the carb but now I've discovered that not only is it running a cheap dizzy cap it's actually cracked giving a crap spark so I've ordered a good quality cap and rotor arm that hopefully will be here this morning and sort out the running problems
